今日係旺角fortress見到$6600就可以買到samsung 32" lcd tv (原價$7800), 仲要送多部相機, 有興趣朋友仔可以去睇, 我今日見到時佢話得返兩部

目前最細要40先support 到全高清

Note that Hong Kong's HDTV boardcasting will start by the end of this year and the standard has been fixed.  TVs with built-in Tuner should arrive in 3 to 6 months time and it may take 9 to 12 months to wait for a more reasonable price.

Not sure how long will it take for the new standards to become popular but possibly just a few years considering the acceptance of new things in Hong Kong.

If your concern is mainly price, then you can choose an older version TV any time and buy a set top box later for viewing HDTV.   Current estimate of the set top box is around HK$450 (from HK government's website.)

If you cannot wait and want quality, suggest you to find a TV support 1080p and having resolution of 1920x1080.   Note that TVs supporting 1080p does not necessary having the 1920x1080 resolution.   Certainly, other criteria like color, contrast, response time ...etc still count.   But don't just take specs since different brand have different way to present their spec and even same brand will have different way to present their spec for different model.  For instance, the contrast spec of Phillips HD LCD series for the latest PP3 model is different from the PP2 models.  Go and feel which one you really like and it is always good to search the user reviews in the internet before you buy.

If you can wait, I would suggest you to use your current TV and wait for a year to purchase your new TV, which should have built-in tuner already.

I am not an AV expert but just want to share my view here.  Hope it is not making things more confused.

請問大家知道lcd電視可mount牆嗎? 牆很薄，不知夠不夠力　．．．

i decide to wait for the TV with built in tuner. Imagine that if you buy the set top box, you need to use the set top box remote control to change the channels. Which means you cannot enjoy any picture in picture feature found in the propular LCD TV, since this feature only apply to channel 1, 2 or... If you have the external tuner box, you LCD TV will have to go to AV or HDMI channel.
Anyhow, I will keep my very old CRT until the LCD TV with built-in tuner is available.

The TV antenna system in our building has to be upgraded as well in order to view the digital tv signal.  I am wondering.... when will they upgrade the system...?     we should still be able to view those analogue tv signal after the upgrade, right?
